Welsh slate headstone by Martin Cook

This Welsh slate headstone has been deeply hand carved to create the effect of the tree in the foreground and the lettering sitting behind.

The making of this piece was a lengthy process. The Welsh slate had to be removed to create the relief tree, carved, polished and then carved with the hand drawn lettering.

I only use the finest Welsh slate, travelling to the quarry to personally select the best quality.
