SILVER-GILT MEDAL AT CHELSEA FLOWER
A Literary Garden
Chelsea Flower Show was a great success. We were awarded a Silver-Gilt medal (according to Alan Titchmarsh we were robbed of Gold!)
I would like to say thanks to everyone involved in the creating of the garden, especially Chris Holland Landscapes (07855100778). Chris’s help and knowledge was tremendous and very much appreciated.
Bonnies garden & planting design was admired by the great and the good. The planting was outstanding.
Davies Brothers Nursery (Burnham) provided beautiful plants and trees. The Cornus Kousa ‘china girl’ got lots of attention!
Many people have asked for the plant list and also information on the quotations and poems featured in the garden. The plant list is below and there are great photos of the garden and carvings.
Thanks to everyone who voted for us on peoples favourite.

Chelsea Flower Show
I have had a trade stand at Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Flower Show for several years. Last year I was inspired to apply for an Artisan Garden at Chelsea. My idea appealed to the selection team, and despite the number of applications, I was awarded a garden.
The gardens inspiration comes from my work with Ian Hamilton Finlay at his garden ‘Little Sparta’. Our garden is intended as a poets retreat. Verses from poems will be hand craved into various features within the garden to provoke thought and reflection.
The style of planting will be informal and overgrown to create the feeling of a private hideaway where the poet can isolate himself.
I approached Bonnie Davies, who I met at Hampton Court last year. Bonnie, who is only 21, had been awarded Silver Gilt for her small show garden, Food For Thought. I was so impressed with her knowledge and energy, I knew she would make a great job of the planting.
We start working on the garden next week, mocking up the garden and building the structure. I will keep you posted on the progress
